Why did you choose that house?

（前は北海道にいたけど）東京に戻るタイミングで、ラッキーなことに今の仕事の依頼をもらった。中目黒は前から住んでみたかった場所で、その仕事の依頼主が持っている中目黒の古い家に住むことになったんだ。すごく興奮したよ。

I happened to get lucky with my job offer at the time of moving back to Tokyo. Nakameguro was always a place I wanted to live and with my new job being in the neighbourhood I was stoked to be able to live and fix up his old house.

東京ではなかなか難しいけど、ぼくは自分の場所を持つのが好き。ひとりだったら家の中でもバルコニーでもゆっくりすることができて、それはちょっとしたゼータクだよね。ここは、駅から10分、15分という距離感もちょうどよくて、静かで快適なエリア。
真夏や冬になるとすごく暑くて寒い。古い住宅だから仕方ないけど、うすい壁や古い窓の隙間から熱や冷気が入ってくるからね。

I love having space to myself, it’s so rare in Tokyo, so to be able to chill around the house or out on the balcony is a luxury. Being 10/15 minutes from the closest station is quiet nice as well, it makes the area more quiet and cosy.
Like most places, when it comes to the middle of summer or winter things get really hot and really cold. As it’s such a old house it means the heat/cold slips through all the thin walls and old windows.
